Privacy Policy
SIDtune ("the app") is a Commodore 64 music player for iPhone and iPad, made by Marian Fujara ("I", "me"). This policy explains what information the app uses, where it is kept and what, if anything, leaves your device.
Information stored on your device
SIDtune keeps the following in its own storage on your iPhone or iPad. None of it is sent to me or to anyone else.
- Your library: tunes you import (from folders,
.sidfiles or zips, from the Files app or another app's share sheet), song lengths and STIL notes, and the online catalogue's tune list and tunes you have played from it. - Favorites, playlists and history (the last 500 tunes you played).
- Settings, including sound, appearance and, if you add them, C64 ROM files.
Deleting the app removes all of it. Settings → Library → Clear library removes imported tunes, song lengths and STIL notes.
Network traffic
SIDtune works without an internet connection. It connects to the internet only for the online HVSC catalogue, which is off by default and turned on by you (Download the HVSC in the empty library, or Settings → Online HVSC). While it is on, the app makes standard web requests directly from your device to SIDtune's copy of the High Voltage SID Collection, hosted on Cloudflare R2:
| What is downloaded | When |
|---|---|
| The catalogue (tune list, song lengths, STIL notes) | When you turn the catalogue on, and when the app checks for a new HVSC release |
| A tune | The first time you play it; it is kept on your device after that |
| The whole collection (about 350 MB) | Only when you choose Download the whole collection |
These requests contain no name, account, device identifier or information about your library. As with any internet request, the host receives your device's IP address and which file is requested; Cloudflare processes this to deliver the files and may keep standard technical logs, as web hosts do. I do not use this information to identify or profile you. Cloudflare's own handling is described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Turning the online catalogue off stops all network traffic and removes the tune list.
Backups
Settings → Backup → Save backup writes your favorites, playlists, history and settings to a file in a location you pick in the Files app. The file goes only where you put it (for example iCloud Drive, if you choose a folder there). SIDtune does not upload it anywhere.
Shared links
When you share a tune, SIDtune creates a link that contains only the tune's path in the collection and, if needed, the subtune number. The link is sent by whatever app you choose in the share sheet. When someone opens it, SIDtune looks the tune up in their own library or the online catalogue; opening a link sends nothing to me.
What SIDtune does not do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or advertising services, and no third-party tracking code.
- No access to your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera.
- No device identifiers or advertising IDs are collected.
- Nothing is sold or shared with third parties.
This website
This website is a set of static pages hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. Cloudflare may keep standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site.
Children
SIDtune collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your rights
Because I hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for me to access, correct or delete. All of your SIDtune data is on your device, under your control. If you email me, I use your message and address only to answer you, and delete them when they are no longer needed.
Changes to this policy
If the app's handling of information changes, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date changed. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
