Support
Questions, bug reports and suggestions are all welcome. SIDtune is made by one person, and I read every message.
When reporting a problem
It helps to include:
- your device (for example iPhone 15 or iPad Air) and iOS / iPadOS version;
- the SIDtune version (shown in Settings);
- the tune's path (for example
/MUSICIANS/H/Hubbard_Rob/Commando.sid) and subtune, if the problem is with a particular tune; - what you did, what you expected and what happened instead. A screenshot or screen recording helps too.
Common questions
- The library is empty. Where is the music?
- No music ships with the app. Tap Download the HVSC to add the online High Voltage SID Collection (60,000+ tunes), or import your own
.sidfiles, folders or zips with +. See Getting music. - Can I listen without a connection?
- Yes. Tunes you have played are kept on your device, and Settings → Online HVSC → Download the whole collection stores all of them (about 350 MB). Imported files are always available offline.
- There's no sound.
- Check the volume. SIDtune plays even with the silent switch on.
- Playback stutters on my older device.
- Choose SIDLite under Settings → Sound → Emulation engine, and turn off Instant seeking. See Emulation settings.
- A tune plays silence or garbage.
- It may need the C64's KERNAL, BASIC and CHARGEN ROMs, which SIDtune cannot include for copyright reasons. If you own copies, add them under Settings → C64 ROMs. See C64 ROMs.
- A tune stops too early or keeps going.
- Its length is missing or wrong in HVSC's song-length database, so the default length from Settings is used.
- How do I move my favorites to a new device, or to the SIDtune web app?
- Use Settings → Backup → Save backup, then Restore a backup on the other device. The web app uses the same file. See Your data.
- Does SIDtune collect any data about me?
- No. There are no accounts, analytics, tracking or ads. See the Privacy Policy.
